Chapter 14
A sunny month
After nearly two months in the big city, it was time for a change of scenery. It was actually quite by chance that we ended up in Buddina on the Sunshine Coast. Maybe it was because we could borrow bikes, or maybe it was the name that sold the place. Either way, November ended up being a truly magical month.
Daniel found a cozy little coworking space right by Mooloolaba Marina. With a beautiful sea view and good vibes, he met some really great guys there. This resulted in serval runs, lunch 'dates,' and squash matches. It turned out that Jack, one of the guys, and his girlfriend Tarra, also love hiking. A perfect match. We ended up going together and hiked the Noosa Coastal Walk. We saw dolphins and stopped to swim. What a lovely encounter.
I ended up spending quite a bit of time down at the local harbor, where I met Brett. We went sailing on his sailboat, Moonyah, as often as the weather allowed. Each trip ended with beers and good stories on the boat. Absolutely fantastic. I also met Bjørn from Farum, Denmark (what are the odds?). We cruised around in his old VW camper van, where he told me about his life in Australia and his time in Christiania in the '70s. In our quest for authentic rye bread, we were invited for tea at some of his old friends' place.
What openness we've encountered – truly admirable.
