Chapter 25

A Brandt-Olsen hug

It is truly magical to be reunited with those you love. Oliver, Tina, and Karsten had traveled all the way to Canada to meet us. A visit we had been looking forward to. And suddenly, out of the blue, there they were. Among the tall Canadian skyscrapers. It was a truly lovely and much-missed hug we shared in that moment.

Our time was spent on both sightseeing and cozy relaxation. Among other things, we explored the city from above at the Vancouver Lookout, saw Stanley Park by bike, crossed many suspension bridges in Capilano Park, took the gondola up Grouse Mountain, visited my old school Emily Carr, discovered the world’s best pistachio crème brûlée, slid down the Malahat Skywalk, sailed in mini ferries, and ate sandwiches with Deep Cove as our backdrop. When we needed a break, we ordered coffee and waffles. A delicious snack. Naturally, a couple of beers were also enjoyed and we played “kaste gris”. It's become almost mandatory.

There were also a few events to be celebrated. We celebrated Tina’s birthday in Victoria with blue skies, whale watching, and Italian food. In Whistler, Oliver’s bachelor gift was redeemed – a zipline tour with Daniel.

It’s always bittersweet to say goodbye. At the same time, we were filled with joy and gratitude for all the experiences we had together. Thank you so much for an amazing trip. We’re looking forward to seeing you again soon.

By the way, I learned something new about Tina – she’s a true pool-shark!
