Chapter 26

The first poutine

Another amazing visit. It never gets boring meeting familiar faces on the other side of the world. This time, it was cousin Christian and Sofia, who had traveled all the way to Canada. We had arranged to meet in Lower Lonsdale, right by the ferry. Our new neighborhood, and now, theirs too.

We kicked off the adventure with a cozy walk through Stanley Park, followed by a round of Sequence at our favorite local brewery: North Point Brewery in North Vancouver. Great energy. A perfect start.

Over the next two weeks, we shared countless good moments and soaked up the Canadian experience. A few bridges were crossed (literally), and MEC quickly became a go-to store. We kept up with our running in Stanley Park, finishing with Danish rye bread sandwiches and canned beer outdoors.

Christian and Sofia were up for trying the local hikes, including the famous Grouse Grind. Luckily, it went well, and we were rewarded with a stunning view over Vancouver. The Canadian wilderness is hard to ignore, and you don’t have to drive far for a wild adventure. That’s why we planned a weekend getaway to Whistler, just two hours north of Vancouver. We hiked some amazing trails and played a sushi-themed game in the evenings. We also finally got to try the Canadian classic, poutine.

We even checked out the local music scene, and to everyone’s delight (especially mine), the night ended with country music, including a Dolly Parton number.

The visit ended just where it began—at the ferry terminal in Lower Lonsdale. One big hug on bus R2.
Thank you so much for the visit, the great energy, and all the new memories, dear Christian and Sofia. It truly warmed our hearts. We can’t wait to see you again back home in Denmark.
