Chapter 9
The big red rock
One of the best hugs. My parents have traveled all the way to Australia to experience this magical country and visit us at the same time. Pretty awesome. And where do we meet? Well, we agreed to find each other by the big red rock.
It takes about 5-10 minutes to drive around Yulara, a small town just outside Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park. The town boasts a single supermarket, a post office, a camel farm, and three restaurants. So there’s plenty of time to share stories and play a little catch.
The next morning, all four of us were ready by 5:15. The goal was to witness Uluru at sunrise. What a remarkable experience to watch the red colors shift with the changing light. Afterward, Mom and Dad relaxed at the hotel, while Daniel and I drove out to Kata Tjuta. It feels like time stands still when you're surrounded by something so vast. What a trip, thank you so much!
